The Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse in conjunction with the Institute for Leal, Legislative and Policy Studies, University of Illinois-Springfield is pleased to continue its offering of trainings for all counselors who want to increase their skill and knowledge in assessing and treating the problem gambling population. This series of one-hour webinars is free of charge to all participants.
While problem gamblers comprise less than 5% of the general population of America, the presentation of each gambler or loved one, is as varied as the games they play. Through a virtual meeting space, participants can learn about cutting edge research from the comfort of their own homes or offices. These trainings will be comprised of lecture and discussion in areas of interest that are not thoroughly examined in our five-day counselor core training. Each of the groups require some special considerations in the clinical setting. This series will help clinicians build their skills and become more confident in their abilities to work with a wide range of clients who have been affected by problem gambling.
Through these trainings, participants may earn up to 6 hours of continuing education credits (IAODAPCA, LPC/LCPC, LSW/LCSW). Participants need not attend all sessions to earn credit. Please note that continued education certificates will be issued via email after completion of the webinar series. Each one-hour session must be registered for individually. Registration is free!
