Over the past decade, the
gaming industry has grown dramatically throughout the country. This growth has
led to a concern about the effects of compulsive gambling and a search for new
strategies to prevent and respond to the problem. BDA provides specific services
to private and government organizations concerned with offering help to problem
gamblers. Our 24 hour Help Lines, program consultation with government and industry,
and identification and training of treatment professionals - have all contributed
to an effective response to the concern of problem gambling.
Policy and Program Development
To design individual programs,
BDA reviews regulatory requirements, identifies available treatment resources
and training needs, and evaluates social service standards.
Gambling Help Line and Crisis Intervention Services
Our toll free, 24 hour Help
Line, gives callers instant access to our expert, certified counselors who provide
clinically appropriate referrals. Since each caller is unique, our counselors
are trained for sensitivity to geographic, demographic, multi-cultural and multi-lingual
needs.
Qualified Treatment Provider Network
BDA's extensive network gives
individuals thousands of treatment resources, as well as information about self-help
groups like Gamblers
Anonymous and Gam-Anon.
Training For Treatment Professionals
BDA's efforts include the
identification and training of existing and potential providers for the assessment,
referral and treatment of problem and compulsive gambling. Training curriculum
is designed to increase treatment provider capabilities for both entry-level practitioners
and experienced counselors.
Statistical Analysis
To help your organization
in evaluating program results, reports are provided on program activity, Help
Line utilization, demographic information and trends, geographic origin of calls,
